Hi Umar,
As per the manual (Frontend section), it should be done as follows:
"In frontend the assortment products are not visible for anonymous users and users that are not authorized to see the products. When logged in the users that are selected in the assortment groups can see the allowed products together with the rest of the products from the normal product catalog - if any."
So, please confirm that you understand the logic correct not to have a misunderstanding, e.g. please , check case for product catalog has source 'Product groups but not index.
I've checked test environment based on 8.8.1.23. as follows: Assortiment is enabled in MC. I have two assortiments each of these has separate product groups with products, first one is under security for a frontend user, second one for anonymous (appropriate checkbox is checked). Paragraph settings of Product catalog has the both groups and extra one regular, not under assortiment and has some products as well.
1. No loggin by the user - I see products of anonymous assortiment + of the regular group (OK)
2. Logged - of assortiment 1 (under security) + of the regular group, no product from anonymous asortiment (OK)
